Sunset Wine Club Review
The Sunset Wine Club a focuses on exposing its members to the rich viticulture of the American West. Although most people familiar with wine know that the U.S. West is an increasingly respected source of wine, most people don’t realize just how diverse the American wine scene is. There are wines made in literally every state of the West, and practically every style of wine is made somewhere. As a member of the Sunset Wine Club, you will begin to scratch the surface of this incredible world of viticulture, and you’ll discover some new favorites in the process.
The wines
Of course, anyone who is reasonably familiar with American wine knows some of the larger manufacturers that have a national distribution. The folks at Sunset Wine Club understand that many of these companies need no further promotion, and that these wines are available at most local wine stores in any case. That’s why, as part of their philosophy, they focus on exposing their members to the products of smaller wineries in states like New Mexico, Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado. Meanwhile, there are many small wineries in California that don’t get much attention outside of their regions. Sunset Wine Club sends wines from these producers as well.
And the people at Sunset are experts on all aspects of wine. Whether you are new to wine or an old veteran, you will learn things from the documentation they send out with each bottle, and you’ll also find their wine-food pairing suggestions to be quite interesting. As you are probably aware, the art of pairing wine and food has been sadly in decline in recent years, but clubs such as Sunset are bringing it back in a back way, and the results really show.
Membership
There are two main levels of membership in the Sunset Wine Club. First is the standard monthly membership, which includes two bottles each month. The other level is the Special Reserve Wine Club, which costs a bit more but sends members many higher-end wines. Both memberships come with special gifts in the first month, and there is also a gift membership at a reasonable price.
Once you sign up for your membership in the club, your bottles will begin to arrive like clockwork each month. If you are a member in the U.S., it’s important to have an adult at home to sign for the wines, or else you’ll have to go pick them up at the shipment facility. And of course, since wine should be stored in certain conditions, it’s best to make sure your bottles are received and properly stored as early as possible. The club does a great job of packaging their wines in beneficial conditions, but it’s a two-sided process.
If you have a passion for American wines or just want to learn more, there is no better club than this one. You can tell the wine selectors are truly passionate about what they do, and many of the choices are inspired. All in all, the Sunset Wine Club’s perks are great, and the selection of wines is fantastic.
